Searching and reading about fabric technologies can be quite a learning experience, as you not only know exactly what goes on when a certain jacket’s materials are listed, but you also know what to look for when shopping for jackets.

In some of our previous reviews and selections we have mentioned several fabric technologies, some of which are quite famous and most of those who spend lots of times outdoors already know about them.

Several weeks ago we did do a comparison review between Gore-Tex® and DryVent™, a fabric developed by The North Face.

Brand comparisons are here to stay, so for this week we will take a look at two other popular brands and see what each of them excel at.

The selected brands are Triple F.A.T. Goose and Canada Goose, both of them with a focus on using goose down as an insulator and both quite up there when it comes to the price of their products.

These brands are quite similar in their product designs and anywhere you look online people often comment on how similar they are in performance as well, so this should make for a very interesting comparison.

While we have frequently looked at Canada Goose’s products and even the reasons of why its jackets and parkas are so expensive, Triple F.A.T. Goose is a newcomer. Columbia vs. The North Face is today’s topic for our brand comparison. This is the second article in this new segment, in which we will take a look at two American sportswear brands, while focusing on their jackets mostly, of course.

We have done so in the past, too, by comparing the Columbia Bugaboo Interchange and The North Face Carto Triclimate jackets.

These are two of the most frequently featured brands in our selections, reviews, and comparisons because of their great jackets and outdoor gear. There are many reasons why we are so fond of both and reading further into this comparison, you will see for yourself.

Those of you who are familiar with either, or both of them, might be wondering as to why we are comparing these two particular brands, since they differ so much in price and that it might not be a fair judgment on either brand.

However, they are both American brands with a focus on sportswear and with considerable involvement in nature preservation and technological innovation for performance fabrics. So not too different after all.
