Hundreds of trees glow with red lights shaped like wine glasses. The decorations stretch from Place de la Concorde all the way to the Arc de Triomphe.
Star bursts and sparkling garlands dangle overhead. Rings of light shimmer along the avenue, bringing the trees to life.
Best time to visit? After dark, hands down. The lights are at their brightest, and you can stroll the whole stretch in about half an hour if you’re taking it slow.
If you’re feeling fancy, consider a carriage ride for a different view. It’s a special way to see the lights and monuments like the Arc de Triomphe.
One Sunday each month, the avenue closes to cars. That’s your chance to snap photos without dodging traffic.

The air is full of scents from hot mulled wine and roasting chestnuts. These classic treats are a must while you browse.
You’ll also spot Bûche de Noël cakes and other seasonal desserts. Local vendors offer festive sweets you’ll only find this time of year.

3. Ice skating beneath the Eiffel Tower

9. Visiting the Galeries Lafayette for its iconic Christmas window displays

Galeries Lafayette Haussmann becomes a winter wonderland every December. The department store’s window displays are legendary, drawing crowds from all over.
Major fashion houses design elaborate scenes for each window. Every display tells a story with creative themes and sparkling decorations.
Inside, a massive Christmas tree hangs under the glass dome. It’s probably the most photographed tree in Paris each year.
Crowds gather on Boulevard Haussmann for the opening night. Parisians and tourists alike line up to catch the first glimpse.

Le Marais turns into a festive place in December. Sparkling lights dangle above the narrow stone streets and historic buildings: it’s hard not to stop and stare.

BHV Le Marais, the big department store, is famous for its Christmas windows. Each year, they line Rue de Rivoli with colorful scenes, playful characters, and festive themes that draw a crowd.
