What does “Fjällräven Kånken” mean?
As we said, “Fjällräven” means “Arctic Fox”, while “Kånken” derives from the Swedish word “Kånka” which means “to lug”.
This is also the name of one of the company’s most successful backpack models.
Where are Fjällräven Kånken backpacks made? How about other Fjällräven products?
Fjällräven Kånken and other products are made in one of two Fjällräven production facilities. There is one of these factories in Zhongshan, China and another just outside of Seoul, South Korea.

What is the origin of the Fjällräven Kånken backpack?
The original Kånken was released in 1978. In Sweden and worldwide, several medical reports indicated that there was an increased prevalence of back problems in young children, most of which were due to heavy and ill-supported backpacks.

Most Fjällräven packs are made from “Vinylon-F“. This scientific-sounding fabric is a synthetic type of nylon.
